New Retail Launch
Prepare your StoreLocators map for a new retail launch or product expansion.
When you launch at a new retailer, or add SKUs at one you already sell through, tell us ahead of time. About a week of notice is ideal. That lets us have the retailer's locations ready to display the day your products go live, instead of catching up afterwards.
What to send#
Which products are launching.
Which retailer, and the launch date.
A store list, if you have one. See Uploading a Store List.
How a launch reaches your locator#
For retailers we integrate with, we read availability from the retailer's own website. That creates one hard prerequisite.
The retailer has to publish a product page before we can track it.
Retailers publish on their own schedule, independent of us. It is common for shelves to be stocked a week or two before the online listings appear. Until a product page exists, our integrations have nothing to read.
This is the most common reason a launch does not show up on a locator right away. We cannot speed it up from our side.
Covering the gap#
If you send a store list before launch day, we upload it to be live on launch day. Your locator shows which stores carry the product immediately, without in-stock quantities. Once the retailer starts publishing data, the live integration takes over.
There is no downside to uploading ahead of a live integration. The manual entries get replaced by live data, not duplicated by it.
Retiring the manual upload#
Once live coverage is high enough, we remove the manual version of those same stores so you are not looking at two sources for one location.
We wait until live coverage reaches roughly 80% of the uploaded stores. Switching earlier means dropping the stores the integration has not picked up yet. We will tell you where coverage stands and leave the timing to you.
Why advance notice matters#
By anticipating the launch, we can set up our system to sweep for your products at this retailer, so a launch will be found. Notice buys you a few things:
We confirm the retailer's product pages are in a format our integration can read, before you are live and troubleshooting in public.
If a product page exists for that product already, as an online-only product, for example, we can add the SKUs to your catalog in advance, so they latch on the moment in-retail data appears.
What we report back#
Once the SKUs are in, we confirm with a store count and a unit count.
Expect both numbers to move. They reflect what the retailer is publishing on any given day, and inventory turns over constantly.
What to do if the retailer has not published your product pages yet#
If the retailer has not published product pages, we cannot track availability automatically. Send us a store list and we will add those locations manually until live retailer data is available.
Products with no online listing#
Some retailers stock products without creating web listings. We cannot track those automatically. Send us a store list and we will pin those locations manually.
New SKUs at a retailer you already sell through#
There is no automatic catalog expansion. We find and add new products through routine sweeps or because you tell us. If a SKU matters to you, flag it directly.
SKUs filed under a different brand name#
Our sweeps use your brand name. A retailer may file a collaboration or co-branded SKU under a partner's brand. Flag those SKUs so we can track them directly.
Variants sharing one product title#
If a retailer lists several SKUs under one product title, they collapse into one entry. This happens when the customer selects a SKU on the product page. Tell us and we will split them so each SKU appears separately on your locator.
