RP ProMap vs StoreLocators: 2026 Pricing and Comparison
Shopify store locator with stockist submissions and booking integrations
RP ProMap is a well-established Shopify locator at 4.8 across 390 reviews, and it does one thing almost nobody else in this comparison does: every paid tier carries every feature, so the gap between $9.99 and $69.99 is only how many locations you have. It also documents, in its own help centre, that its store pages will not be indexed. This page covers what that means for search and for your Google Maps bill.

The short answer
RP ProMap is a capable, fairly priced locator with the best tier structure in this comparison and an honest help centre. We are the better buy when the store list belongs to retailers rather than to you, when shoppers need real availability, and when the locator has to earn search traffic rather than only serve it.
What each product is designed to do, in its own terms. A capability named on one side is not a claim that the other lacks it, and neither column ranks the two: the table below is where they are compared row by row.
What RP ProMap is built for
You own your locations and the list is already accurate
Every feature on the cheapest plan matters more than the headline price
Stockists should apply, get an automatic reply and publish on approval
Booking integrations or companion mobile apps are part of the requirement
Unlimited locations at a published price is the deciding factor
Budget the Google Cloud setup properly. Six APIs and a billing account, and the map stops after seven days without them.
What StoreLocators is built for
Retailers you do not control hold the store list
Shoppers need per-product, per-variant, per-store availability rather than a tag
The locator has to be findable in search, which the vendor says theirs is not
Retailers that start stocking you should appear without an application
You would rather the map came with the subscription than with six Google APIs on a billing account of your own
StoreLocators and RP ProMap, side by side
Both store locators as a shopper sees them, captured the same way: a 1280 by 800 browser window placed in Chicago, searching for Chicago. A demo holds whatever sample data its vendor chose, so where that changes what the picture shows, the caption says so. Each shot is trimmed to a common shape here; select one to see all of it.

Pricing, side by side
Not a close comparison on price. RP ProMap covers unlimited locations for $69.99 a month. Our entry tier is $195.
What separates them is what the money buys. RP ProMap prices a widget that maps locations you supply and stockists you approve. Ours prices retailer availability data for locations you do not own, refreshed daily, with the map included. On an owned store list, that is a lot of money for something not being used.

RP ProMap in its own words
“No SEO. Content is JS-rendered behind a query param, so Google canonicals back to the base page and will not index one page per store.”
“if you did not setup your own Google Maps API, the map will stop displaying after 7 days”
The first quote is remarkable mostly because it exists. A vendor writing down that its own feature will not rank is rare, and it saves a buyer from discovering it six months later. The same article says per-store search pages would need a different architecture, which is an honest description of the problem rather than a promise.
The second is the part of the setup that costs real time. The map you see during evaluation runs on the vendor’s allowance for a week; after that it needs your own Google Cloud project with billing enabled, and the full feature set needs six Google APIs turned on rather than one.
Where StoreLocators is different
The store list is found rather than approved
RP ProMap has a good stockist workflow and a documented path for lifting a list out of Faire, and both start with you or an applicant supplying the location. We discover retailers that stock you across integrated feeds, refreshed daily, so a store that started carrying your line appears without an import or an application.,
Availability rather than a tag
Their product filtering runs on tags you set and keep current. Ours is per product and per store from retailer feeds, refreshed daily, which answers whether that store has it rather than whether it once did.
Pages that can be indexed
Their own documentation says the locator will not produce one indexed page per store. For a brand competing on retailer-and-city queries, that is the difference between a locator that serves visitors already on the site and one that brings them.
No cloud console in the way
RP ProMap needs your own Google Cloud project with billing enabled and six APIs turned on, and the map stops after seven days without it. Ours includes the map in the subscription, with shopper sessions and map loads unmetered and no second invoice from Google.,
Every row where the table above separates us
Taken from that table rather than written out again, so the two cannot disagree. A row shows up here when we publish an answer and they publish none, or when both answer and ours covers more of the feature. Rows where both sides publish a figure, a price or a rating, stay out: those differ by their content.
StoreLocators: Included|RP ProMap: Your own key, six APIs, billing enabled
What the vendor says about search, and why it matters
Most locator vendors describe their location pages in terms that leave you to find out how they behave. RP ProMap does not. Its help centre article on store detail pages says the content is JavaScript-rendered behind a query parameter, that Google canonicals back to the base page, and that it will not index one page per store.
The article goes further and names what would be required instead, pointing at a different architecture using Shopify metaobjects. That is a vendor telling a merchant how to solve a problem their product does not solve, which is not the normal shape of documentation.
The consequence for a buyer is simple. If the locator only has to work for people already on your site, the deep links are perfectly good: a shopper can be sent to a specific store and the page will load it. If part of the case for the locator was ranking for a retailer and a city together, that case does not survive this paragraph, and it is better to know now.
Six APIs, a billing account and a seven-day clock
The setup cost that matters here is not the app, it is Google. The full feature set requires six APIs enabled on your own Google Cloud project: Directions, Geocoding, Geolocation, Maps JavaScript, Places and Places New, with billing turned on. CSV import alone needs a working key before it will run.,
And there is a clock on it. The vendor documents that without your own Google Maps API set up, the map stops displaying after seven days. So the map you see while evaluating is a grace period, and it expires at roughly the same time as the seven-day trial.,
One useful detail in the same area, since it decides how a large import behaves: geocoding runs in your browser for files of two thousand rows or fewer and on the vendor’s servers above that, with a ten megabyte file limit. A brand loading several thousand stockists should expect the server-side path and size the file accordingly.
A ten-year-old app under new ownership
The listing launched in December 2016 and holds 4.8 across 390 reviews, with 344 at five stars and 15 at one. That is a long record with a real tail, and the tail is worth reading rather than averaging away.,
The negative reviews cluster on installation and support: one merchant reports the app proving impossible to install with no help forthcoming, another, in 2023, asked for admin work to move from the vendor’s own site into the Shopify admin, which the vendor says it did later that year. Merchants on an older free plan also saw upgrade prompts in the app, which drew a strongly negative review; the vendor’s reply states that the prompt appears only on those legacy plans and that paid plans carry no ads.
Something changed recently. One merchant edited a one-star review up to five stars, saying the app has a new owner, that the company is now very responsive, and that they worked through accessibility issues together. Two further five-star reviews from spring 2026 praise support in similar terms. The vendor now says the same thing itself: replies it posted on older negative reviews in September 2026 state that the app has since been acquired and is under new management, with a simplified install and better support. The buyer or the price is not public, and the recent record is short, but it points the same way.
Moving from RP ProMap to StoreLocators
Straightforward on the data. Locations import and export as CSV, analytics export is built in, and the stockist records are all yours.
The point of the move is that retailer locations stop being rows anyone approves and maintains. Your own locations stay managed; the rest arrive from feeds.
1Export your locations and your analyticsLocations export as CSV and the analytics have a built-in export. Take the search history too: where shoppers looked for you and which filters they used is the part that has no copy anywhere else.Minutes
2Separate owned locations from retailYour own sites and any independents recruited through the stockist manager become managed locations. Chain retail rows do not need to come across: those retailers arrive from feeds, current. An hour or so, once
3Turn on your retailersChoose the retailers you sell through from the integrated list. Anything missing is added on request, typically within days, at no extra cost.Minutes, plus our turnaround for anything new
4Install and redirectAdd the app section on Shopify, then redirect the old locator page. If anyone linked to a specific store through a deep link with a store parameter on the end, those URLs will not survive, so check what has been shared before switching.Under 5 minutes on Shopify
5Uninstall, and retire the Google keysCancelling means uninstalling from the Shopify admin, since no separate billing portal exists. Then restrict or delete the Google Maps key, and check whether the six enabled APIs and the billing account are still needed for anything else.Minutes
Frequently asked questions
How much does RP ProMap cost?
Four tiers: Lite at $9.99 a month for up to 20 locations, Basic at $19.99 for 200, Pro at $39.99 for 500 and Unlimited at $69.99 for unlimited, each with a 7-day free trial. There is no feature gating, since every paid tier includes every Lite feature, so the price buys capacity alone. There is no current free plan. Not in the price: your own Google Maps API key with billing enabled on your Google Cloud project.,
Does RP ProMap create SEO pages for each store?
No, and the vendor says so itself. Its help centre states that store detail pages are JavaScript-rendered behind a query parameter, that Google canonicals back to the base page, and that it will not index one page per store. The same article points at a different architecture using Shopify metaobjects as what would be needed instead. It is unusually candid documentation and it settles the question before you buy rather than after.
Does RP ProMap need a Google Maps API key?
Yes, and more of one than most. The full feature set requires six Google APIs enabled on your own Google Cloud project with billing turned on: Directions, Geocoding, Geolocation, Maps JavaScript, Places and Places New. CSV import will not run without a working key either. The vendor also documents that without your own key the map stops displaying after seven days, so the map during evaluation is a grace period rather than an included service.,
Can stockists add themselves to an RP ProMap locator?
Yes, and the workflow is more complete than most at this price. Applications arrive in a stockist manager where you can approve, reject or edit them, applicants receive automatic approval or rejection emails, you can be notified when a submission arrives, and an Auto Publish setting adds an approved stockist straight onto the map without a second step.
Is RP ProMap good?
It holds 4.8 across 390 Shopify reviews, with 344 at five stars and 15 at one, on a listing live since December 2016, and the developer is a Miami Beach company. The listing now carries a Built for Shopify badge. The negative reviews cluster on installation difficulty and support response, mostly from before 2026. A merchant who had rated it one star edited that review up to five in spring 2026, saying the app has a new owner and that the company worked with them to fix accessibility issues, and other recent reviews praise support in similar terms. The vendor confirms the change in its own review replies, saying the app was acquired and is under new management.,
What is the best RP ProMap alternative?
Other widgets in this class do the same job, though few match its no-gating tier structure. If the problem is that the store list belongs to retailers rather than to you, that shoppers want to know which store has a product, or that the locator needs to be findable in search, that is what StoreLocators does instead: retailer feeds refreshed daily rather than imports and applications, per-product and per-store availability, and the map inside the subscription. It costs many times more, which on an owned store list is not worth paying.
