Progus vs StoreLocators: 2026 Pricing and Comparison

Multi-platform store locator widget with a bundled map

Progus is the most complete of the cheap locator widgets in this comparison: its own bundled map with no API key to set up, a plan ladder running from free to $169.99 on Shopify, Wix, WordPress or any website, and an unconditional fourteen-day refund written into the policy in those words. This page covers what each tier includes, and why the Shopify App Store listing shows fewer tiers than the vendor’s own pricing page.

The short answer

Progus is the widget to look at first if you own your store list and want it on Shopify and other site builders without a Google Cloud account. Its commercial terms are the clearest in this comparison. We are the better buy when the store list belongs to retailers rather than to you, and when shoppers need to know which store has a product.

What each product is designed to do, in its own terms. A capability named on one side is not a claim that the other lacks it, and neither column ranks the two: the table below is where they are compared row by row.

What Progus is built for

  • You own your locations and the list is already accurate
  • The locator has to work on Wix, Squarespace, BigCommerce or WordPress too
  • Avoiding a Google Cloud account and a separate map bill matters
  • An unconditional fourteen-day refund and clear cancellation terms are part of the decision
  • The store list is heading past a few thousand locations on a widget budget

On Shopify, the listing shows four tiers and links to the vendor pricing page for the three larger ones. The $3.99 ten-location tier is not offered on Shopify at all.

What StoreLocators is built for

  • Retailers you do not control hold the store list
  • Shoppers need per-product, per-variant, per-store availability rather than a link you set
  • Per-location pages that search engines can index matter
  • Retailers that start stocking you should appear without an import
  • The answer needs to be which store has it, not which stores exist

StoreLocators and Progus, side by side

Both store locators as a shopper sees them, captured the same way: a 1280 by 800 browser window placed in Chicago, searching for Chicago. A demo holds whatever sample data its vendor chose, so where that changes what the picture shows, the caption says so. Each shot is trimmed to a common shape here; select one to see all of it.

StoreLocatorsCaptured October 15, 2026 from a live customer site, searching “Chicago, IL”.
ProgusCaptured October 15, 2026 from the vendor’s own demo, searching “Chicago, IL”.

Pricing, side by side

Not a close comparison on price. Progus covers two thousand locations for $29.99 a month and twenty thousand for $169.99. Our equivalent tiers are $195 and $995.

What separates them is what the money buys. Progus prices a widget that maps locations you supply, on Shopify, Wix, WordPress or any website. Ours prices retailer availability data for locations you do not own, refreshed daily. On an owned store list, that is a large amount of money for something not being used.

Progus in its own words

“No. Progus Maps, OpenStreetMap and Apple Maps work without one. Google and MapBox styles use your own key.”

Progus, answering whether a Google Maps API key is needed

“All payments made to PROGUS are eligible for a full refund within 14 days of the payment date”

Progus refund policy

The first quote is the accurate version of the "no API key required" line on the app listing. Three of the five map providers genuinely need nothing set up. Choose Google or Mapbox for a particular look and the key comes back, which the vendor says on its own page rather than leaving to be discovered.,

The second is the clearest commercial commitment in this comparison. The policy continues "No exceptions or conditions apply", which is stronger than the refund language of every other vendor here, our own included.

Where StoreLocators is different

The store list is found rather than synced

Progus has good ways to get locations in, including a Google Sheets sync and a Shopify Locations sync. Every one of them starts with a sheet somebody maintains. We discover retailers that stock you across integrated feeds, refreshed daily, so a store that started carrying your line appears without an import or a row.

Availability rather than an association

On its Shopify Premium plan and up, Progus links products to locations and lets shoppers search for a product on the map, with no inventory connection and no freshness claim behind that link. Ours is per product and per store from retailer feeds, refreshed daily, which answers whether that store has it rather than whether it is on the list.

Search pages for stores you never typed in

Progus gives each location its own page on Shopify, listed in a sitemap, even on the free plan, which is more than most widgets here offer. Those pages cover the locations you have entered. Ours cover the retail locations that carry your line, refreshed daily, so the search surface grows as retailers start stocking you rather than as someone adds rows.

One price list, wherever you buy

Progus’s tiers vary by platform: a $3.99 ten-location tier exists on Wix and WordPress but not on Shopify, and the Shopify listing shows four tiers and links out for the rest. Ours are three published prices in one place, with the same terms wherever you buy.,,

Every row where the table above separates us

Taken from that table rather than written out again, so the two cannot disagree. A row shows up here when we publish an answer and they publish none, or when both answer and ours covers more of the feature. Rows where both sides publish a figure, a price or a rating, stay out: those differ by their content.

Retailer coverage

Product-level availability
StoreLocators: Per product, per variant, per store, filtered to in-stockProgus: Products linked to locations, on Shopify Premium and up

One price ladder, and the parts each platform gets

Progus publishes its full ladder on its own pricing page: free at one location, then $9.99, $19.99, $29.99, $49.99, $89.99 and $169.99 for a hundred, five hundred, two thousand, five thousand, ten thousand and twenty thousand locations, with custom pricing above that. It is the widest ladder in this comparison, though not the highest ceiling: SC Store Locator, RP ProMap and Storeify all publish unlimited-location tiers, where Progus stops at twenty thousand and goes to a quote.

Which tiers you see depends on the platform. Wix and WordPress also get a $3.99 tier for ten locations; Shopify does not, so a Shopify merchant with a dozen stockists goes from one free location straight to a hundred at $9.99. The Shopify App Store listing itself shows only the four tiers up to two thousand locations and links to the vendor’s pricing page for the larger ones.,

Yearly billing is about ten per cent off and is published as yearly totals on both the listing and the vendor site: $107.89, $215.89 and $323.89 for the first three paid tiers, rising to $1,835.89 a year for twenty thousand locations.,

The map, and the exact shape of "no API key"

The Shopify listing advertises fast setup with no API key and no external services. That is true, and the vendor’s own product page gives the fuller version: Progus Maps, OpenStreetMap and Apple Maps work without a key, while Google and Mapbox styles use your own.,

So the honest reading is that the default costs nothing and needs no account, and that choosing a particular provider for a particular look brings the usual key and billing back. Compared with the vendors in this comparison that require a customer key with no alternative, that is a meaningful difference: the setup step is optional rather than mandatory.

Alongside the provider choice, customisation covers your colours, theme font, pins and custom CSS. Whether that matters depends entirely on whether the locator has to match a brand exactly.,

Support, and what the reviews record

Progus holds 4.8 across 98 reviews on the Shopify App Store, with 94 of them at five stars, on a listing live since October 2021 that carries the Built for Shopify badge. The developer is a registered Polish company, and the store locator is one of several apps it makes.,,

Support is chat and email. The vendor says a person replies, usually within a few hours, and in the Shopify app it offers to set the map up for free, usually within a few working hours, with nothing going live until you approve. No hours of cover or formal response commitment is published, so "a few hours" is a description rather than a promise.,,

Four reviews sit below five stars and their themes are worth knowing: two one-star reviews report the locator going down, both during wider cloud outages according to the vendor’s replies, one of which drew a free month of credit; a three-star review praises the app and asks how to cancel a plan; and another three-star review asks for a larger free tier than a single location. There is no numeric uptime commitment to hold anyone to, and the terms say plainly that uninterrupted access is not guaranteed.,

Moving from Progus to StoreLocators

One of the easier moves in this set. If you connected a Google Sheet, that sheet is already your export, and the import format is a standard spreadsheet.

The point of the move is that retailer locations stop being rows anyone owns. Your own locations stay managed; the rest arrive from feeds.

  1. Take the sheet, or exportA connected Google Sheet is the cleanest copy of your data. Otherwise export from the app; imports accept CSV, Excel and Numbers, so what comes out should be straightforward to read.Minutes
  2. Separate owned locations from retailYour own sites and any dealers you recruited through the dealer form become managed locations. Chain retail rows do not need to come across: those retailers arrive from feeds, current. An hour or so, once
  3. Turn on your retailersChoose the retailers you sell through from the integrated list. Anything missing is added on request, typically within days, at no extra cost.Minutes, plus our turnaround for anything new
  4. Install and redirectAdd the app section on Shopify, or a script and one div elsewhere, then redirect the old locator page URL. Remove the Progus theme block rather than leaving it in the theme unused.Under 5 minutes on Shopify
  5. Cancel, inside fourteen days if you canThe refund window is fourteen days from the payment date and it is unconditional, so if the decision is made early in a billing period there is money to reclaim. Uninstalling on Shopify deletes your locations and settings, so export first. If you were running the locator on a non-Shopify site too, remember to remove that embed as well.Minutes

Frequently asked questions

How much does the Progus store locator cost?

On Shopify: free for 1 location, then $9.99, $19.99, $29.99, $49.99, $89.99 and $169.99 a month for 100, 500, 2,000, 5,000, 10,000 and 20,000 locations, with custom pricing above 20,000. Wix and WordPress also get a $3.99 tier for 10 locations, so a Shopify merchant jumps from one free location to a hundred. The Shopify App Store listing shows only the first four tiers and links to the vendor’s pricing page for the larger ones. Yearly billing is about ten per cent off, for example $107.89, $215.89 and $323.89 a year for the first three paid tiers.,

Does Progus need a Google Maps API key?

Not with the default map. Progus Maps, OpenStreetMap and Apple Maps work without a key, which is why the app listing advertises fast setup with no API key and no external services. Google and Mapbox styles are also offered and use your own key. So the setup step exists only if you choose one of those two, which is different from the vendors here that require a customer key with no alternative.,

Can I get a refund from Progus?

Yes, and it is the plainest refund policy in this comparison. The policy grants a full refund on any payment within 14 days of the payment date and states that no exceptions or conditions apply. After 14 days payments are generally non-refundable, though the vendor will review duplicate charges, billing mistakes and technical failures on its side. Accounts can be terminated at any time, and the terms require 30 days notice of any price change. There is no minimum term.,

Is Progus good?

It holds 4.8 across 98 Shopify reviews, with 94 of them at five stars, on a listing live since October 2021 that carries the Built for Shopify badge, and the developer is a registered Polish company that makes several apps. Four reviews sit below five stars: two report the locator going down, both during wider cloud outages according to the vendor, one of which it credited with a free month; one, at three stars, praises the app and asks how to cancel a plan; and one asks for a free tier larger than a single location. The vendor says a person usually replies within a few hours.,,

What platforms does Progus work on?

Shopify, Wix and WordPress natively, and any other website through one embed code, with setup pages for Squarespace, BigCommerce and other site builders. On Shopify it installs as a theme block, on Wix it is a native App Market element you drag onto a page, and on WordPress it is a plugin. That breadth is unusual in this bracket, where most of the well-reviewed cheap locators are Shopify-only.,,

What is the best Progus alternative?

Other widgets in this class do the same job, though few match the platform coverage or the refund terms. If the problem is that the store list belongs to retailers rather than to you, or that shoppers want to know which store has a product rather than which stores are associated with one, that is what StoreLocators does instead: retailer feeds refreshed daily rather than a sheet, per-product and per-store availability, and the map inside the subscription. It costs many times more, which on an owned store list is not worth paying.

Every Progus claim on this page was taken from progus.com, its store locator, refund, terms, privacy and contact pages, its platform-specific pages, or its Shopify App Store listing and review pages, and each was checked against the live page on 15 October 2026. The sources are listed below with the exact URL we read.,,,

Every claim was checked twice against the vendor’s own pages before publishing.,,,

One thing is stated as documented rather than characterised. Products can be linked to locations and searched on the map, and the vendor never says how that link is maintained or connects it to inventory, so this page does not call it manual or automatic. Claims about StoreLocators come from our own public pages and are not separately cited.
