MikMak Where to Buy vs StoreLocators: 2026 Pricing

Commerce intelligence and orchestration platform for enterprise CPG brands

MikMak is a commerce intelligence and orchestration platform, branded since January 2026 as MikMak, a SPINS company. Its where-to-buy widget and store locator sit inside one of three modules, next to omnichannel analytics and media measurement, which is why a MikMak alternative is usually a narrower product rather than a smaller version of the same one. StoreLocators is compared against every major where-to-buy platform on our hub.,,

Last reviewed

The short answer

MikMak is a commerce intelligence platform whose where-to-buy widget is one module of three, and StoreLocators is a store locator you install yourself.

What each product is designed to do, in its own terms. A capability named on one side is not a claim that the other lacks it, and neither column ranks the two: the table below is where they are compared row by row.

What MikMak is built for

  • You sell in EMEA, LATAM or APAC and need retailer coverage across those markets.
  • Attributing paid media across social, retail media, search, CTV and display to retailer sales is the actual job.
  • You need shoppers put into a retailer cart with the product already in it, not directed to a shelf.
  • You sell a regulated category and need age gating, retailer controls and state-specific compliance.
  • You have a PIM, a BI stack and an enterprise procurement process, and are buying a platform scoped to that rather than a locator that plugs into it.

If two or more of these describe your team, a focused store locator is not the product you are shopping for, and we would rather say so here than after 1,500 words.

What StoreLocators is built for

  • You sell in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom or Australia and need a locator live this week.
  • Store-level in-store availability is the problem, not media measurement.
  • You are on Shopify, or can drop a script on any other site, and have no engineering time to book.
  • Independent stockists are a real part of your distribution.
  • Published terms matter: month to month, no termination fee, cancel from your account settings.

StoreLocators and MikMak, side by side

Both store locators as a shopper sees them, captured the same way: a 1280 by 800 browser window placed in Chicago, searching for Chicago. A demo holds whatever sample data its vendor chose, so where that changes what the picture shows, the caption says so. Each shot is trimmed to a common shape here; select one to see all of it.

StoreLocatorsCaptured October 15, 2026 from a live customer site, searching “Chicago, IL”.
MikMakCaptured October 6, 2026 from a customer the vendor names publicly, searching “Chicago, IL”.

Pricing, and what each vendor publishes

Our prices are public: $195, $395 and $995 a month on our Shopify App Store listing, each with a 14-day free trial. MikMak publishes no price. It has no pricing page, and all three software directories that list the product agree: Capterra shows “Contact vendor”, Software Advice shows “Pricing available upon request”, and GetApp shows no pricing info against a subscription model.,,,

What can be compared is terms. Ours are published in full and take about a minute to check. MikMak publishes none: minimum term, auto-renewal, notice period, termination fees and implementation fees are all absent, as is whether MikMak Commerce can be bought on its own or only inside a bundled platform agreement. That is a statement about what is published, not a criticism of the number.,

What MikMak is, in their own words

“Growing the World’s Leading Brands, Real-Time”

MikMak

“Market-Leading Where to Buy Solutions Built for Profitable Sales”

MikMak

SPINS announced its acquisition of MikMak on 14 January 2026, with terms not disclosed, and the company now brands itself MikMak, a SPINS company. Rachel Tipograph remains named as founder and chief executive. SPINS described the deal as combining its dataset with MikMak’s media platform.,,

Read the platform page and the scope is unambiguous. MikMak Commerce, MikMak Insights and MikMak Aura are sold as one system: a path to checkout at any in-stock retailer from social, brand sites, search, CTV, display and QR codes, then analytics on retailer sales impact, then media spend tied to incremental sales. Where to Buy and the store locator are the conversion surface that feeds the measurement, not the product itself. Almost everything below follows from that.,

Where StoreLocators is different

In-store availability is the product, not an adjacent module

StoreLocators surfaces retailer-reported, store-level availability, refreshed daily and re-checked while the shopper browses. For MikMak the locator is the conversion surface feeding a measurement platform. Both are legitimate designs, optimised for different questions.

Retailer discovery instead of feed building

StoreLocators works out which retailers carry your products across 205 integrations, and adds new ones on request, typically within days, at no additional cost. MikMak’s documented model is feed-based: brands supply product catalog and store information feeds against published specifications.

An install you can finish yourself

Install from the Shopify App Store and add the section in the theme editor, or drop a script and one div on any other site. The documented MikMak path is a sitewide JavaScript tag, Content Security Policy changes and data attributes on page elements.,

Terms you can read before you talk to anyone

Our prices are public: $195, $395 and $995 a month on our Shopify App Store listing, each with a 14-day free trial. MikMak publishes no price. Our terms are public too: month to month, no long-term contract, no termination fees, cancel from Account Settings, refund available within 30 days of the latest charge.,,

Built for the brand MikMak is not selling to

MikMak’s named customers are large enterprise CPG brands such as Diageo, Mars and Mondelez. A growing DTC or emerging CPG brand is not that buyer, has no budget to feed a media measurement platform, and needs a locator live this week rather than after a procurement cycle.,

The long tail of independent retail

Wholesale customers add their own locations to your locator through a self-serve submission block, with no manual work on your side. That is the part of retail a global partner network handles least well, and often where an emerging brand actually sells.

A free public retailer directory, and one named result

The store-lists directory publishes 110,516 locations across 205 retailers as free downloads. On the product side, BlendJet saw an 11.5% increase in online conversion and a 300% increase in locator usage after adding retail trust badges: one attributed result from one named brand, rather than a range.

Every row where the table above separates us

Taken from that table rather than written out again, so the two cannot disagree. A row shows up here when we publish an answer and they publish none, or when both answer and ours covers more of the feature. Rows where both sides publish a figure, a price or a rating, stay out: those differ by their content.

In-store availability and data freshness compared

MikMak Commerce is headlined as market-leading where-to-buy, and the store locator is real and documented: geolocation routing, refinement by state, city or postal code, store addresses, directions, product catalog filters and customizable templates. Its developer documentation shows where in-stock status comes from: retailers supply per-store price and availability feeds, brands can load store files with the same availability field, and a store with a blank value displays as in stock. What it does not publish is how often those feeds sync, or any freshness commitment. So the refresh cell above says unknown rather than guessing on their behalf.,,

The clearest public statement on this point is not MikMak’s own. Covering the SPINS acquisition in January 2026, AdExchanger reported that MikMak “hasn’t had its own data on which products are available at nearby stores or visibility into whether its online campaigns are driving in-store sales”, and described the deal as filling exactly that gap. Read it as a statement about where each company invested first. MikMak built media attribution and is now buying retail availability data. That is a roadmap, not a defect.,

On our side the formulation is retailer reported, refreshed daily, and re-checked while the shopper is browsing, across 205 retailer integrations. That is the honest description of a feed-driven system, and it is the wording used across the rest of this site.

Retailer coverage compared

The raw numbers are not close, and pretending otherwise would waste your time. MikMak states 8,000+ retailer partners, 3.6 million store locations and 100+ countries. StoreLocators integrates 205 retailers across 110,516 locations in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia.

Geography is where that gap bites hardest. MikMak operates across North America, EMEA and APAC, and deepened that network in August 2023 by buying ChannelAdvisor’s Shoppable Media and Brand Analytics product lines from Rithum. If your distribution is European, Latin American or Asian, a four-market locator is the wrong tool and no amount of feature comparison changes that.,

Two things the headline number does not tell you. MikMak publishes no breakdown of how many of those 8,000+ partners report store-level availability rather than a link to a retailer product page, so the figure answers reach rather than shelf accuracy. And a large network only helps if it contains your accounts, which for an emerging brand often means a regional grocer, a co-op or an independent. That is the gap our coverage model is built around: missing retailers are added on request, typically within days at no additional cost, and wholesale customers submit their own locations self-serve.,

Setup and time to launch

MikMak markets both managed and self-service options, and the self-service claim is specific: a solution that lets you create commerce experiences in minutes with no technical IT skills required, using what it describes as AI-driven configuration technology built for rapid deployment. Take that at face value for building a campaign experience.

Putting it on the brand website is a different job. MikMak’s own developer guide specifies a JavaScript tag that must be deployed to all pages of your brand website, Content Security Policy updates permitting *.mikmak.ai and *.swaven.com for connect-src, frame-src and script-src, and HTML data attributes such as data-mm-wtbid and data-mm-ids added to page elements. The wider documentation is organised around data feeds, feed specifications, a sales tracking pixel and SSO. That is an engineering and data shape, and it is the right shape for the buyer MikMak sells to.,

No official onboarding duration is published, and the public review record cuts both ways. One Capterra reviewer wrote that it was pretty difficult to get MikMak up and running, and another described labelling URLs for granular analysis as incredibly manual. The same review sets praise the data explorer and account-manager responsiveness, and rate support 4.6 out of 5. Eighteen reviews is a small sample, so treat it as signal rather than measurement.,

StoreLocators is a different shape rather than a faster version of the same thing. Install the app, add the Live Retail Map section to a theme, and retailer discovery runs against your catalogue. Under five minutes, no Content Security Policy change, nothing gated behind a vendor provisioning your account. On a non-Shopify site it is a script and one div.

Choosing a MikMak alternative: what actually changes

People arrive here with one of two problems: the locator is the only part of the platform they need, or the buying process is a quote cycle they cannot finish this quarter. In both cases a focused locator is the right answer and the switch is small. It stops being small the moment the platform is doing a second job. Media attribution, add to cart at retailers, age gating and state-specific controls, coverage outside four English-speaking markets: no store locator app performs any of those, and this page will not imply otherwise. The decision comes down to one question. Do you need to prove what your media did to sales, or do you need someone to find your product in a store this week?,

Switching from MikMak

Moving a locator is mostly a data and embed exercise, and the widget on your site is the easy part. The work sits in the retailer and SKU mapping behind it, and in whatever else you were buying from the same vendor. Deal with that second part first, because with MikMak it is usually the larger half. If MikMak is also your attribution layer, your add-to-cart path or your only retailer data outside North America, a store locator does not replace those.

  1. Separate the locator from the measurementList what MikMak actually does for you: the where-to-buy widget, the store locator, add to cart at retailers, Insights reporting, Aura attribution, international coverage. Everything past the first two needs its own answer before you move anything. An hour, with the contract open
  2. Install alongside, not insteadPut StoreLocators on a staging theme or a single product page and let retailer discovery run while MikMak is still live. You are comparing real coverage on your own catalogue rather than a demo dataset.Under 5 minutes to install
  3. Check coverage against your real retail listCompare what discovery found against your actual distribution. Request any missing retailers, which are typically added within days at no additional cost, and bring independents in through self-serve wholesale submission.Days, not weeks
  4. Move the embeds and unwind the tagSwap the widget on your product pages and your locator page, then remove the sitewide MikMak tag and the Content Security Policy entries it required. Keep your URLs exactly as they are so nothing you have already earned in search moves.
  5. Export, then give notice properlyPull any historical Insights or Aura reporting you want to keep, because it stays with MikMak otherwise. MikMak publishes no contract terms, so read your own agreement for the renewal date and notice period before cancelling anything.Depends on your agreement

Frequently asked questions

What is MikMak and how does it work?

MikMak is an enterprise commerce intelligence and orchestration platform, branded since January 2026 as MikMak, a SPINS company. It has three modules. MikMak Commerce carries the where-to-buy widget and store locator, routing shoppers from ads and brand pages to a retailer. MikMak Insights is its omnichannel analytics. MikMak Aura ties media spend to retailer sales. The locator is one surface inside a measurement platform rather than the product itself.,,

How much does MikMak cost, and is there a free trial?

MikMak does not publish pricing. There is no pricing page on mikmak.com, and all three directories listing the product show no figure: Capterra says contact vendor for pricing, Software Advice says pricing is available upon request, and GetApp shows no pricing info against a subscription model. Contract length and minimum commitment are not public either. MikMak says nothing about a free trial; Capterra and GetApp both record none.,,

Who acquired MikMak?

SPINS announced its acquisition of MikMak on 14 January 2026, and terms were not disclosed. Rachel Tipograph is named as founder and chief executive of MikMak, with Jay Margolis as chief executive of SPINS, and the company now brands itself MikMak, a SPINS company. Separately, in August 2023 MikMak bought ChannelAdvisor’s Shoppable Media and Brand Analytics product lines from Rithum, which Rithum said deepened MikMak’s retail network across North America, EMEA, LATAM and APAC.,,,

Does MikMak show real-time in-store inventory?

MikMak Commerce routes shoppers to what it calls any in-stock retailer, and publishes a store locator with geolocation, addresses and directions. Its developer documentation describes per-store availability supplied through retailer and brand feeds, where a store with a blank value displays as in stock, but it publishes no sync frequency or freshness commitment. Covering the SPINS acquisition, AdExchanger reported that MikMak had not had its own data on which products are available at nearby stores. Treat store-level availability as a demo question.,,

How many retailers does MikMak support, and in which countries?

MikMak states 8,000+ retailer partners and 3.6 million store locations across 100+ countries, with operations in North America, EMEA and APAC, and it names customers including Diageo, Colgate-Palmolive, Reckitt, Mars and Mondelez. Those are vendor-stated figures. MikMak publishes no breakdown of how many of those retailers report store-level availability rather than an online product page, so the headline count answers reach rather than shelf accuracy.,

How do you add MikMak’s where-to-buy widget to a brand website?

Per MikMak’s own developer guide, the implementation is a JavaScript tag that must be deployed to all pages of your brand website, Content Security Policy updates permitting the *.mikmak.ai and *.swaven.com domains for connect-src, frame-src and script-src, and HTML data attributes such as data-mm-wtbid for the widget id and data-mm-ids for product identifiers on the relevant elements. In practice that is a developer or tag-manager task, not a theme edit.

What is MikMak Aura?

MikMak Aura is the measurement module launched with MikMak 4.0 on 29 April 2026. MikMak describes it as connecting full-funnel media spend to incremental retailer sales performance, and as a predictive engine for real-time market foresight. The same release added an AI assistant called Mak and MikMak MCP, which lets a brand’s own AI agents query real-time commerce data. Aura is a media measurement product, not a store locator feature.,

What is the best MikMak alternative for a smaller brand?

It depends on what MikMak is doing for you. If it is mainly the where-to-buy widget and store locator, a focused locator such as StoreLocators installs from the Shopify App Store in minutes and covers 205 retailers across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia, on month-to-month terms. If you also rely on media-to-sales attribution, add to cart at retailers, or coverage in EMEA and APAC, no store locator app replaces that.,,
